Fresh Water Scarcity 2070

Using the Whole Earth Catalog as a starting point, this project focused on the design of assets that reflect an alternative future of my own creation. The final deliverable was a spread within a “2070 edition” of the original catalog, documenting the assets I made.

In the future I depict, I focus on the depletion of fresh water resources. In this scenario, the majority of these resources had been depleted or damaged throughout the world following a disaster in the 2030’s.

Through themes of institutional mismanagement, capitalist commodification, and the role of bottom-up organizations as aids in navigating environmental degredation, I aimed to create artifacts of a far, yet familiar future for viewers to consider.
