Preservation

[2024]DescriptionPreservation is a series of forms inspired by the ephemerality and fragility of natural life. Each leaf is formed as a trace left behind in the clay as it burned out in the kiln. In this way, their figures are preserved in the stoneware. However, left unglazed, each stone leaf remains fragile and prone to breakage and destruction. Thus, these pieces reflect the futility of preservation, and are intended to break and “decay”
over time.
